St. Isidore Technology is focused on full integration with classroom curriculum. Technology lessons are planned and taught jointly by classroom teachers and Technology staff. Technology skills are taught within the context of other lessons, with the focus being on students learning to apply the tools of technology to everyday learning.
In the Technology Lab and throughout the school, students work on a wide variety of curriculum-based projects using many different software applications and online resources. In the Lab, state-of-the-art equipment (iMac computers, scanners, printers) is available to grades 1-8 on a scheduled basis.
In addition to the Technology Lab, computers are also located in each classroom, and two carts with notebook computers can be checked out for work in classrooms from grades 4-8. Nearly all classrooms are also equipped with ACTIVBoards (interactive whiteboards) which teachers and students use to enhance the classroom learning experience across all subject areas. ACTIVBoards are operated using teacher laptops, projectors, and sound systems to create a multimedia approach to learning.
All computers are networked, with all students first grade and above having access to their computer accounts from any computer on the campus. All faculty, staff, and students have high-speed access to the Internet.
In addition to a comprehensive array of technology hardware, St. Isidore School students, teachers and families also enjoy a host of online resources for research and learning, including ed1stop (through the Contra Costa County Office of Education), Atomic Learning, and Catholic Telemedia Network.
By the time they graduate, students of St. Isidore School have been taught how to use a wide array of software applications, how to access and evaluate online information, and how to communicate using several multimedia formats. They are prepared with the skills and confidence to meet the demands of high school and beyond.
