Welcome to the Art Room!
Wow, is it really the 2007/2008 school year already? It feels like just yesterday I was walking on to campus here for the first time. For those of you who don't know me, this is my third year here at St. Isidore's as the Art teacher or what I like to call it- the best job in the world. Seriously, it's true, this is my dream job and I am so lucky to get to do what I do everyday. I have always wanted to teach and have had a passion for Art since I was young so this job is the perfect blend of the two. Although, I have to say that the best part about this job is the students. They always walk into the classroom excited and eager to create. They brighten up the room with their positive energy and that can put a smile on any teachers face. In fact, they continually inspire me with their new ideas and twists on all of the lessons. As I always tell the kids, we really do have quite a creative bunch here at St. Isidore.
My goal as an Art teacher is to give your children a creative opportunity to share and express their individual unique talents. It is highly important to me to provide a safe, comfortable environment, that allows for each student to be his or her authentic self. I believe Edwin Elliot sums up my goal in the Art room quite well saying, "By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before." And that is what I want students to do, be themselves.

GRADES K-8:
Each lesson will vary somewhat between the grade levels but the emphasis will be on drawing, form, shading, proportion, perspective, color, art history and creativity. We will explore each of these concepts through the use of different mediums. Pencil, charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, watercolor, acrylics and clay are just some of the mediums that the various classes will be working with.

Each class will meet for Art once a week. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades attend class for 30 minutes. 3rd and 4th grades meet for 45 minutes while 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades have 50-minute classes.
