Welcome to Sixth Grade

A Little Bit About Us:
Dear Sixth Grade Families,

Things are really clipping right along for the Sixth Grade. Last Friday we had a delightful jaunt to Rakestraw Books to hear a favorite author, John Flanagan, chat with the students about the process of writing a book. His series, The Ranger's Apprentice, is a favorite, among the boys especially. The weather was beautiful.

You will be receiving a permission slip for our field trip to the Rosicrucian Museum. There was a lot of phone tag involved with the reservations and I was worried that we were not going to be able to see the dead bodies this year. Things worked out after all and I am certain that the children will thoroughly enjoy the trip.

The students are also in the process of preparing for their Greco Roman Project. This is a simple one - 10 photos of examples of Greek or Roman art or architecture. I am restricting the children to searching only in Alamo, Danville and San Ramon this year. Usually the children are able to find examples very easily around their own homes. They must take a photo, identify the sample, and give the location where they found it. They are very enthusiastic about this search. I know they will have fun on this "scavenger hunt." The due date will be Tuesday, May 13.

You will also be thrilled to know that the egg they buried months ago will be dug up and turned in Tuesday, May 20. This was an assignment to illustrate the "survival of the fittest" - most will not make it. Don't you love the fun and games in sixth grade.

PAX,
