Service

A commitment to serve others is ingrained in the Mission and practice of a St. isidore School education. Our service learning program is woven into the fabric of our educational experience, reflecting our dedication to graduate faith leaders who share their times and talents to serve the parishes and greater community, seek opportunities for peace and justice, respond with compassion and empathy, and value and respect God's Creation.

SERVICE LEARNING

HIGHLIGHTS

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:3-4

HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

Students in grades 5 - 8 actively engage in hands-on service experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Students are required to complete a certain number of hours each year totalling over 3,500 hours annually.   From volunteering at local charities to participating in community clean-up projects, students experience the joy of giving back and making a difference in the lives of others.

REFLECTION AND DISCUSSION

Critical to our service learning program is the reflective component. Students engage in discussions and reflections on their service experiences, exploring the connections between their faith, the teachings of Christ, and the impact of their actions on the community.

CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING

Service learning at St. Isidore School is deeply rooted in the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Students explore concepts such as solidarity, justice, and the dignity of every person, providing a framework for understanding and addressing social issues in our community and beyond.

COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS

We collaborate with local community organizations, charities, and nonprofits to create meaningful service opportunities for our students. These partnerships allow students to connect with real-world needs and gain a broader perspective on the challenges faced by others.

GLOBAL AWARENESS

Our service learning initiatives extend beyond our immediate community to address global issues. Students learn about and contribute to international causes, fostering a global perspective and a sense of interconnectedness with people around the world.

SERVICE LEARNING PROJECTS

Some of the schoolwide projects have supported the following organizations: Wheelchair Foundation, Kids Against Hunger, Socktober for C.O.R.E Homeless, Knights of Columbus Toy and Food Drive, Adopt a Seminarian, and more.
